With a total length of 44.4 kilometres of double-track and two single-track links with Perpignan station, the new infrastructure is suitable for mixed rail traffic (passengers and freight).
Entirely built at European gauge (UIC), it has been designed for a maximun operating speed of 350 km/h for passenger trains.
